Bantwal: Three were arrested in Manihalla near Bantwal late night on Thursday by police after long chase in film style. Those arrested are Saddam of Maripalla, Mausin of Suratkal and Irshad of Bollai. Two others namely Mansoor and Ammi of Ammemar near Farangipete have escaped.

The police who were on patrol duty near the Belthangady check post had signalled a red coloured Swift to stop. However, the occupants of the car sped forth by even climbing a divider. The police then immediately tipped off the Punjalakatte police. But those in the car even gave the Punjalakatte cops a slip and headed towards Bantwal where the police on getting information waited for the car to arrive at Manihalla.

At Manihalla Probationary IPS officer Akshay M, rural SIs Chandrashekhar and N Prasanna signalled the car to stop. However, the miscreants tried to run over their vehicle on the cops making it inevitable for the latter to open fire and arrest the three.
