Toilets mandatory at Udupi migrant workers colonies?

Udupi: Municipal councillors cutting across party lines have called for mandatory construction of toilets at all migrant workers colonies. Open defecation in these areas was not only unhygienic, but a serious health hazard.

Raising the issue at the Udupi CMC general body meeting recently, councillor Prashanth Amin referred to the rampant proliferation of such colonies, some on even private lands with the owners being paid rent.

CMC President P. Yuvaraj warned and directed officials to issue a notice to owners of plots where migrant workers colonies had come up, to provide toilets. A fine would be imposed on those who don’t comply with the instructions, he warned
