Udupi: Poornaprajna College Udupi and with the collaboration with the Mangalore University and College Physical Teachers’ Association inaugurated two days UGC sponsored International Sports Seminar on Health related Physical Fitness & Wellness at Poornaprajna Coolege Campus here on Friday, 22nd August, 2014.

Speaking on the occasion the chief guest Padmabhushan Dr. B. M. Hegde former Vice Chancellor of Manipal University said that western Medical Science has no base. He outlined the differences between the Western Medical Science with Indian medical science and said that western medical science lacks strong foundation. He said Indian medical science is so great that we have enough information in regard to ancient medicines instead of referring it we go to the doctors.

He further said that in the ancient medicines in India we can cure Ebola disease. But it has necessary to find out. He gave near about one hour talk on health related physical fitness and wellness. Wellness is the coreless of the Indian medical Science. Healthy mind is the fitness of body. There is close relationship between health and fitness. Good mental health allows people to cope with the emotional demands of every day life having positive outlook on life. Health is enthusiasm.

Earlier the program started with invocation prayer by Ms. Gargi and MS. Sharadhi. The Internation seminar was inaugurated by His Holiness Shri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Mutt. His Holiness Swamiji during his address said that we should have maintain our health with proper games rather than cricket in our daily routine life and along with it the just necessary food keep us healthy.

Prof. K. Sadashiv Rao Principal of Poornaprajna College presided the inaugural program. Prof. Dr. S. S. Hasrani of Ethopia University of Sports Science, Dr. Jagadeesh Shetty Vice Principal of PPC, Purushottam Poojary, President of Mangalore University Physical Teachers’ Association, Dr. G. S. Chandrashekar Honourable Secretary of PCMC, Shri. Sukumar Physical Director of the host college and Prof. Sathyanarayanan Dean of Commerece and management were present on the dais.

Dr. Jagadeesh Shetty College Vice Principal welcomed the gatherings. Prof. K. Sathyanarayan proposed vote of thanks. Harinakshi Shetty and Poornima Shetty were compered the inaugural program.
