Mangaluru: State government has sanctioned compensation of Rs 5 lac each to the families of SDPI worker Ashraf Kalai and RSS worker Sharath Madiwala, who were murdered in two separate incidents around two months ago. This was informed by U T Khader, minister for food and civil supplies.

"Ashraf Kalai and Sharath Madiwala were murdered during the unrest in the district. We had assured to give compensation from the government to the kin of both the deceased. As per the assurance government has now sanctioned Rs 5 lac each to both families,” said Khader.

When asked about appointment of judges in consumer court, U T Khader said that the judges have been appointed to consumer courts and there was delay in appointing the judges because private advocates opposed appointing retired judges to the consumer courts and the matter was in court which has now been cleared.
