Udupi City Bus Operators offers concession pass to students

Udupi: The concession pass will be provided to the students in Udupi City buses and for daily passengers concessional coupon system will be introduced, said Suresh Naik Kulaidy of Udupi City Bus Operators Association, Udupi.

While addressing the media persons at Udupi Press Club on Saturday, 1st October, 2016, he said that in the Udupi city buses presently at the rate of 50% concessions passes are given since several years. Now for this system R.F.I.D. new passes and for daily passenger’ concession coupon will be given. The new system of pass will be available after 20th October, 2016 with concessional coupons. The applications will be available from 10th October from all offices of the Bus Operators Association.

He said that K.S.R.T.C. buses will get concessional amount paid to the students from the government. But the private buses operators would not get any amount from the government. It will be hard to give the concessional passes to the students that it would be difficult to adjust the income from the buses. Private buses should pay more taxes to the government.

The concessions rate for the students available as for 1st standard to 7th Standard annual rate Rs. 125/=, For eighth to Tenth standard annual rate will be Rs 725/= and for PUC, Degree, Diploma students annual rate Rs. 1,300/=. For Engineer, Doctor and evening college students annual rate will be Rs. 1,550/=.

Moreover, he said that for the expenses of R.F.I.D. card expenditure and printing cost Rs. 100 should be borne by the applicant. The pass will be valid for holidays. The passes will be available for the prescribed school routes only. The passes will be given with certain rules and regulations.

The Udupi City Bus Operators Association officials Krishna Anchan, Vadiraj Suvarna, Sudhakar Kalmady, Sandeep, Nagaraj Shettigar and others were present during the press meet.
