Udupi District Women's Congress celebrates International Women's Day

Udupi : The Udupi District Mahila Congress organized International Women’s Day Celebration at Congress Bhavan, Ajjarkad near here on Saturday, 28th March, 2015. Smt. Veronica Cornelio President of Udupi district Mahila Congress presided on the occasion and welcomed the gathering.

The occasion was inaugurated by five women representatives along with other on the dais. Venkatesh Murthy of Namma Bhoomi was the resource person. A talk on the special role of women in politics was organized.

During his chief guest address, Mr. Janardhan Poojary, senior leader of congress praised the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. He said we should support Sonia Gandhi as its President and Rahul Gandhi should be its Vice President because he has learnt much about the politics in the country. The role of Sonia Gandhi during summons issued to former Prime Minster Dr. Manmohan Singh by the CBI, Sonia Gandhi led the delegation to his house and shown solidarity with the former Prime Minister.

He further said that Indira Gandhi was the first women Prime Minister of India, and that she is a role model for the women who want to serve India. Women should actively participate in all the elections. Indian culture is maintained by women in the society. Women when compared to men are able to love and care more and even dared to face any challenges.

During the occasion, Gopal Bhandary former MLA of Karkala legislative assembly, Amruth Shenoy, Jayashree Krishnaraj, Supriya Raj, Sujatha Acharya and other leaders were present.
