Udupi District celebrates 67th Republic Day

Udupi: The 67th Republic Day festivities celebrated by the Udupi District administration with pomp and spirit at Mahatma Gandhi Bayalu Rang Mandir, Beedinagudde on Tuesday, 26th January, 2016..

Vinay Kumar Sorake, District In Charge Minister and Urban Development, Minister of Karnataka State hoisted the National Flag and received the guard of honor from the district police force, fire brigade, NCC, Scouts and Guides.

After receiving the guard of honor, Vinay Kumar Sorake due to the election code of conduct did not talk about the accomplishments of the government rather spoke in brief that I am glad to be part of this celebration which will be a holy day. After the Independence on 15th August 1947, we have our own Independent government from foreign oppression. The foremost step towards Swaraj was taken on 26th January, 1930 by the Indian National Congress, which day was declared as Total Swaraj. In this remembrance, 26th January was declared as Republic Day starting from 1950.

Under the leadership of Babu Rajendra Prasad and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with several leaders , we have one of the great and standard comprehensive Constitution in the world. The British were here for business and commercial trade, but made us suffer for centuries with their oppression. We should remember our great leaders who sacrificed and lost their lives for the nation. It is the time to remember some of the great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabha Patel, Lokamanya Bala Gangadher Tilak, Dr. Ambedkar, Dadabhai Naoroji, Abdul Kalam Azad, Bhagath Singh, Rajguru Sukhdev and others.

We have got a very comprehensive constitution with the efforts put by Babu Rajendra Prasad and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. We have to follow all the principles laid down in the Constitution. In this vast Bharath Matha, we have to live in unity and for the development of the nation. We should follow our nation’s custom, tradition, culture, history, philosophy and heritage with dignity. We should live happily as a family.

During the occasion, The Rang Mandir constructed at the a cost of Rs. 98 lacs which was located on a 3.5 acre land at Beedinagudde was officially inaugurated by Vinay Kumar Sorake, District in Charge Minister with lighting the lamp.

Meanwhile, during the occasion, Group A category, D. Manjunathaiah, Commissioner of Udupi City Municipal Council was awarded NCERT National Award, also secretary of the Malpe Beach Development Committee; H. S. Premnath, Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department for his 27 years of service and special attention was given to SC/ST, they were honored and congratulated. Under group B category, Niranjan Bhat, district Handicapped and disabled Welfare offical and Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Assistant Director of Youth Empowerment and Sports department Udupi conducted state level youth mela. Under group C, Rajesh Shenoy PDO of Bada gram Panchayat and Assistant Manager of Rural Development and Sampath, official at the District Commissioner’s office, Diwakar Engineer of Nirmithi Kendra were honored and felicitated for their accomplishments.

During the parade, around 16 teams participated\, where Umesh P of district armed reserve police led the colorful march past. Various school children took part in various cultural performances. Suma S. Lecturer of Government PU College, Udupi compered the programme.

Pramod Madwaraj, local MLA., P. Yuvaraj, President of Udupi City Municipal Council, R. Vishal Deputy Commissioner, K. Annamalai Superintendent of Police, Priyanka Mary Francis, CEO, Janardhan Thonse, President Udupi Urban Development Authority, Sunitha Nayak, President of Udupi Taluk Panchayat and others were present.
