Udupi to be made sports capital of Karnataka

Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi District Minister in-charge and Minister for Sports, Youth Empowerment and Fisheries said all effort will be made to promote Udupi district as the Sports Capital of the State He was speaking after inaugurating the District level Sports organized for the Koraga Community at District Stadium, Ajjarkad.

He said that the state government has introduced many initiatives in promoting sports in the Udupi district. The sports organized for the Koraga Community will help the development of Koraga youth with the youth of other communities in the society. Special training will be provided for the community for the development of Koraga communities.

A swimming pool of international standard measuring 50x25 will be constructed in Nejar, Kallianpur and already a proposal has been sent to the central government for Rs. 8 crores. The state government allocated Rs. 1crore for gymnasium and Rs. 1.5 crore for the sports academy. Meanwhile Rs. 1 crore for the women sports academy. A lawn tennis stadium will be build and Rs. 3.15 crore reserved for the project. Air Condition facilities for Indoor stadium will also be established.
