Valedictory function of “Philoference -2015” at SPC Puttur

Puttur: The valedictory function of two day National Conference ‘PHILOFERENCE -2015’ on the theme ‘Social Innovation and Change Making: A way forward’ under the joint auspices of PG Department of Social Work of St Philomena College, Puttur and Ashoka innovators for the Public was held on December 4, 2015 in college auditorium.

 

The Correspondent of the College Very Rev. Fr Alfred J Pinto, in his presidential address said, ‘Social innovations seeks new answers to social problems by identifying and delivering new services that improve the quality of individuals and communities.’ He also distributed the prizes to the winners in poster making and collage competitions.

In poster making competition, Ms. Sowmyashree of St Aloysius (Autonomous) College Mangalore secured the first prize, Mr. Ranjan K R of SDM (Autonomous) College Ujire secured the second prize and Mr. Anil Thomas of St Aloysius (Autonomous) College Mangalore secured the third prize. In collage competition, Ms. Shifa Prarveen and Ms. Prashanthi A of Vivekananda College Puttur secured the first prize, Ms. Sowmyashree and Mr. Anil Thomas of St Aloysius (Autonomous) College Mangalore secured the second prize and Ms. Ramya S and Shubha S Joshi of SDM (Autonomous) College Ujire secured the third prize.

Prof. Satyajit Majumdar of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, Mr. Shashikumar Velath and Mr. Yashveer Singh of Ashoka Innovators for the Public participated as resource persons.

On the theme of conference, 21 research papers are presented by research scholars, teachers and PG students of various institutions.

Practitioners, faculties and students from Social work, Economics, Management and members of NGOs have participated as delegates.

The Coordinator of PG Studies in Social Work Prof. Prasanna Kumar welcomed the gathering. The Convenor of the conference Fr. Prince C P presented the resolutions of the conference and proposed the vote of thanks. The student coordinators Mr. Dananjay and Ms. Deepika were present on the occasion. Ms. Tinu Aleena Bose compered the programme.
