Vikas PU College observes Gandhi, Shastri jayanti

Mangaluru: Vikas PU college celebrated Jayantis of two great patriots- Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on October 2 at its college premises.

Mahatma Gandhi showed importance of Non-Violence and Shastri showed importance of farmer. Both the great leaders had immense love for mother nature. “We have to grow more plants to beautify this world,” said the chief guest Shridhar, Range Forest Officer. He rendered a floral tribute to the great leaders and then planted saplings as a mark of respect to the leaders.

Krishna J Palemar, chairman and former minister briefed the anecdotes and principles of Gandhiji and Shastri. “They developed some qualities voluntarily after they were criticized .They took the positive criticism and changed their life forever. Each one has to imbibe the simple life of these great leaders. These great leaders rescued the mother earth from the crisis and also, Gandhiji rescued us from the British, Shastri from food crisis which led to our victory,” he said.

Dr Ananth Prabhu, director of Vikas Edu Solutions, Rajaram , Correspondent, Suraj Kallya, Trustee, Vidya Kamath, administrator were present.

On this function, hand outs of principles of the great leaders were distributed among the students. Also, 100 saplings of medicinal and fruit bearing plants were planted in and around the college, followed by fruits and sweets distribution to the inmates of the Infant Jesus Orphanage, Maryhill.
