Udupi: Udupi district youth Congress president Vishwas V Amin demanded resignation of current Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje over her alleged involvemnet in corruption, when she was Power Minister in BJP government.

“There was large scale corruption in the power purchase agreement amounting to Rs 28,000 crore, when Shobha was Power Minister in BJP government. The government should immediately make the report public and the MP should resign and cooperate in the investigations if she has self respect. It is shameful that a woman representative in Karnataka is involved in a multi-crore scam,” he said.

“She has helped industrialists by converting the existing power purchase agreement as annual tender process. The government was purchasing electricity at the rate of Rs 3.24 per unit prior to it. The MP increased it to Rs 6.28 per unit. She has increased the economic burden on common man. It is a scam of Rs 28,000 crore. There should be detailed investigations on allegations of kickbacks and her true colours should be revealed,” the youth congress urged the state chief minister.
