Visit to District Offices by Suraksha Consumer Forum of SPC Puttur

Puttur : Suraksha Consumer Forum of St Philomena College, Puttur as a part of the certificate course on Consumer Education had organized practical training programme and visited District Information Center, D K Zilla Panchayat Office, Lokayukta Office, Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum and had a discussion with the officers on November 26, 2015.

The President of District Federation of Consumer Organizations Mr. M J Salian in his address to the members of the Suraksha Consumer Forum, focused on various components and methods of evaluation under certificate course on consumer education.

The Chief Planning Officer of D K Zilla Panchayat Mr. Vishwanath explained about administrative mechanism of Gram Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat.

Lokayukta Police Inspector Mr. Vijaya Prasad while addressing the members said, “Corruption is internationally recognized a major problem, capable of endangering stability and security of society, threatening social, economic and political development and undermining the values of democracy and morality. Lokayukta investigates cases of corruption and recommend action.” He also gave an insight to the students on the various ways of detecting corruption by using chemical powder.

The Manager of District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Ms. Sunanda Bhat, while interacting with the members said, “Under Public Distribution System, Government issues three types of ration cards, viz., Anthyodaya Anna Yojana Cards, Non Priority Cards and Priority Cards to the eligible citizens, and thereby, essential food grains are distributed.”

The President of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum Ms. Asha Shetty spoke on redressal of consumer disputes.

This programme was organized by the convenor of Suraksha Consumer Forum, Prof. Dinakara Rao in association with the District Federation of Consumer Organizations, Mangalore.
