Woman from Udupi dies in accident near Manvi

Udupi: In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old woman from Vaddarse in Udupi died in an accident at Manvi in Raichur district on Sunday. The deceased is Suguna Shetty (40), wife of Shankar Shetty Suguna along with eight members of her husband's family, was on a pilgrimage by a Tavera vehicle.

The entourage had begun its journey on Saturday evening from Vaddarse. During early morning on Sunday, the driver lost control over the vehicle, after which the vehicle hit a roadside tree. Out of other passengers, two persons, identified as Anand Shetty and Chandramathi Shetty, suffered serious injuries. Both of them stand admitted into a hospital at Raichur.

Driver of the vehicle, identified as Mahesh from Karkada, Saligrama in the taluk, as well as other passengers in the vehicle survived the ordeal with minor injuries. Suguna has left behind her husband, a son, and a daughter.
