Woman robbed in Matsyagandha express

Kundapur: A complaint has been lodged by Shailaja from Hosabalu at Shankaranarayana police station regarding the theft of cash and valuables worth lacs in Matsyagandha express.

As per details, Shailaja was travelling by Matsyagandha express with her children on April 9 from Thane to Kundapur. The train had left Thane in the afternoon. She got down at Kundapur Moodlakatte station with her children at 6.30 a m on April 10. After going home, she found her bag was torn and realised that the valuables contained in the bag were stolen.

Kariamani, necklace, four bangles, pearl chain, gold chain for children, earrings, three rings, and other golden items weighing in total of around 22 sovereigns and valued at around Rs 3 lacs and a cash of Rs 7,000 were found stolen from the bag, as per the complaint.

Shankaranarayana police have registered the case.

Mangaluru: A bag containing valuables and cash belonging Pratima Satish was snatched away by an unidentified person while travelling
in the Matsyagandha Express. The incident which took place on May 22 and has come to light quite late.

The woman who resided in Bhandup, Mumbai was travelling towards her native place Suratkal and had boarded the train at Kurla Terminus. A
young man who had entered the train when it reached Vidyavihar Junction snatched Pratima’s bag and escaped. A shocked Pratima
immediately informed her family members over phone.

The bag contained jewellery weighing 70 gms and a cash of Rs 12000. According to the woman, the jewellery was new and she intended to wear
them after offering prayers to the family deity in her native place. A complaint has been lodged at Thane station and investigations are
underway.
