Women’s associations demand ban on "Appe Teacher"

Mangaluru: Members of various women’s organisations staged a protest against the Tulu movie "Appe Teacher" alleging that the movie had several scenes and dialogues which embarrass the women folk.

Addressing the protestors, Chanchala Tejomaya, President of the Mangaluru Taluk Mahila Mandalagala Okkoota said, "The film has offended the teaching fraternity as well as women through use of cheap language. Some of the dialogues in the movie seem to be encouraging rapes. The movie should be banned. It is shaneful that popular actors and icons of Tulu films Devadas Kapikad, Naveen Paidl, Bhojraaj Vamanjoor and Aravind Bolar have been part of these scenes."

Merlyn Martis. President of Committee Against Atrocities on Women demanded a ban on the movie as well as those TV serials which mislead and misguide women.

Prior to the demonstration, women took out a protest march from Ambedkar Circle upto the DC office. A memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner.
