Puttur: “Electronic media, today, is being extensively used by the public as communication and information sharing source as well; however students, in particular, must give an attempt to assimilate it in support of their learning process” said Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Chairperson of the P G studies, St Philomena College Puttur.
He was speaking to the students chairing a workshop on “Social work media, radio programme, documentary and creative writings” organized by Post Graduate Department of Social Work for its students. He pointed on the worth of social media for social workers and lauded the efforts of the organizers.
Ms. Anjali Rai, HOD of Journalism, St Philomena College, Puttur was the resource person on the occasion. ‘Start with writing about yourself and your experiences and become a creative writer’, she urged the participants. She prepared the social work aspirants with theoretical and practical tips on creative writing, script writing for radio programmes and creation of documentaries.
Mr. Prasanna Kumar, coordinator of the P G department of social work commended the students for initiating media activities such as generation of a health blog, radio programme on health as well as medical social work and a documentary on psycho social health.
Rev. Fr Prince C.P. Asst. Professor of the department made the preliminary remarks on the occasion. Ms. Shravya sang the prayer song. Ms. Sumana welcomed the gathering. Mr. Dhananjaya proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Deepika compered the programme.
