Yaksha Dhruva Patla Sambhrama 2017 to be held on May 28

Mangaluru: Yaksha Dhruva Patla Sambhrama 2017 and Patla Award presentation ceremony will be held on May 28 at the Gerukatte Gangaiah Shetty Vedike at Adyar Garden under the aegis of the Yaksha Dhruva Patla Foundation Trust, Mangaluru. A variety of programmes will be held throughout the day until 12 midnight as part of the celebrations.

The programmes will be inaugurated by former minister Krishna Palemar while Dr Hansaraj Alva will preside. Dr Vishwa Santosha Bharathi Swamiji, Rajashekharananda Swamiji and Mohandas Swamiji will grace the occasion. A health camp to be organised as part of the event will be inaugurated by Dr Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat.

Veteran Yakshagana Bhagavatha Balipa Narayana Bhagavatha will be conferred the Patla Award at a ceremony to be held in the evening at 7 pm in the presence of Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt, Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Sri Kshetra Odiyoor and Chandrashekhar Swamiji. Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation will bless the occasion.

The Balipa Award carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh. The Yaksha Dhruva Kala Gaurava Award will be presented to nine outstanding
artistes while 16 Thenkuthittu and Badaguthittu artistes who are in need of help will receive an aid of Rs 50,000 each.
