Youngsters assault watchman over crackers

Udupi: About 10 youngsters grievously assaulted a building watchman and broke his nose for asking not to burst crackers in front of building gate in Manipal on Saturday, October 29. Vijay, the watchman hailing from Vijayanagara is undergoing treatment in a hospital.

A group of youth had come to a flat in a building in Manipal after midnight at about 2.30 am on October 29 and were bursting crackers in front of the apartment. They were throwing crackers towards the building. The watchman objected to it and then the youth grievously assaulted him.

The watchman has complained to Manipal police station. Police have identified Abhijith, Shodhan and Suhas among the suspects. A search is on for the remaining suspects. A police case stands registered in Manipal police station.
