Mumbai, (IANS): The 62nd Filmfare Awards was held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, on Friday, 26 June. The function was graced by some of the big names from South films.
It is an annual event that unities the four South film industries that is Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada
The awards has been given in over 40 categories in four languages. It is a glamorous and colourful event where the leading names from South entertains the audience with their performances.
This year, Tamanna Bhatia, Pranitha Subhash, Taapsee Pannu and many other celebs set the stage on fire.
The event proved to be quite an unforgettable one for Dhanush as he won the Best Actor award. While, Karthi continued his rise to stardom, winning the Best Actor(critics) award for ‘Madaras’.
Talking about the Malayalam cinema, Mammooty proved he is indeed the best actor and took home the ‘black lady’ for his performance in ‘Varsham’.
Wherein, stylish star Allu Arjun received the film fare trophy for best actor for his acting in Racegurram.
In the Kannada film category, Yash grabbed the best actor trophy for his performance in Mr & Mrs Ramachari
On the other hand, Malavika Nair, Swetha Srivatsav, Shruti Haasan and Manju Warrier swept the best female actor awards at the awards ceremony.
