Mumbai: This week releases, Akshay Kumar’s Baby and Sonam Kapoor's 'Dolly Ki Doli' has opened to a lukewarm response at the box office.
The much-awaited movie, Baby directed by Neeraj Pandey, surprisingly struggled to cross the Rs 10-crore at the box office, which is a low-opening day for an Akshay Kumar’s movie.
"Baby Fri ? 9.3 cr. Biz picked up during evening/night shows. Superb word of mouth. Biz to multiply on Sat, Sun and Mon [Republic Day]," wrote trade analyst Taran Adarsh on his Twitter account.
Another report on Box Office Collection website said that the spy-thriller has shown improvement in terms of collection on its second day as it collected Rs 12.5 crores. The report also predicted that the movie will perform well in coming days.
Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor's 'Dolly Ki Doli', which has got mixed reviews from film critics, did a poor business at the collection centers.
Taran Adarsh said the film collected Rs 2.55 crore on its opening day. However, he predicted that collection numbers are likely to go up over the weekend.
The film directed by debutuant Abhishek Dogra managed Rs 3 crores on the second day, said reports.
The films are expected to do well in view of the Republic Day holiday.
