“Count Your Steps - To Beat Diabetes” Campaign Held at Thumbay Hospital Dubai

Thumbay Hospital - Dubai, the 150 bed ultra-modern private teaching hospital owned by Thumbay Group held a diabetes awareness campaign “Count Your Steps – To Beat Diabetes,” in association with NEXtCARE, at the hospital from 9 am to 9 pm on Saturday, 14th November 2015.

Mr. Akbar MoideenThumbay, Vice President of the Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group, Dr. Manvir Singh Walia, Administrative Director - Operations, Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group, Dr. Aparna Kulkarni, Head of Insurance, NEXtCARE- Dubai and Mr. Tarique Anwar, Procurement Manager, NEXtCARE – Dubai were present at the campaign.

The campaign was conducted with the aim of creating awareness about the importance of physical activity in the prevention of diabetes. The campaign sought to encourage the participants to make “every step count” by finding ways to keep themselves active, for a healthier future.

As part of the campaign, patients were given free consultations with Internal Medicine Specialist, Eye Specialist, Dental Specialist and General Physicians. Patients also availed free diet advice by the hospital’s Dietician. Free pedometers (step counters) were also distributed to campaign attendees.

“Count Your Steps” danglers were displayed throughout Thumbay Hospital on the campaign day. Dignitaries and staff wore “Count Your Steps” badges to spread awareness on the prevalence of diabetes. More than 500 patients visited the hospital, during the campaign.
