Arvind Subramanian (in picture), the chief economic adviser to the Union finance ministry, on Tuesday declined to answer a question on the beef ban saying he did not want “to lose my job”.
“You know that if I answer this question, I will lose my job. But thank you nevertheless for asking the question,” he told students of Mumbai University, according to PTI.
Subramanian had been asked if the beef ban would have an adverse impact on farmers’ income or the rural economy, and his matter-of-fact reply was greeted with applause.
