Bhagwat, Shah should ask Chouhan to resign: Congress

Published On : 12 Jul 2015

Bhopal, July 12 (IANS) The Congress here on Sunday said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and BJP president Amit Shah should ask Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to resign in the light of Vyapam scam.

Terming Bhagwat's arrival in Bhopal on Friday and Shah's scheduled for Monday, as a move to cover up for the loss of image due to Vyapam scam, Congress general secretary Mohan Prakash, who is also in charge of the party's affairs in Madhya Pradesh, said they should ask Chouhan to resign on "moral grounds".

"Sensing the possibility of being sent to jail, members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are scared since the Supreme Court of India has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the Vyapam scam," Prakash told reporters here.

"Vyapam is such a scam which doesn't just involve financial irregularities but murders too," he added.

The Supreme Court last week handed over the investigation into the scam to the CBI. It was earlier being probed by a Special Investigation Team under the supervision of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
