On Friday, Rajiv Pratap Rudy got trolled on Twitter for suggesting that Nitish Kumar advertised in Pakistani daily Dawn: “Nitish advertises in PAKISTAN daily “DAWN” e-edition to woo voters in Bihar. Why Pak? Whom does he want to reach?”

The Bihar Polls are underway and both sides haven’t pulled any punches in trying to make the opposition look bad. We’ve had dubsmashing, spoof lyrics, childish acronyms, meet-the-tantric videos and even suggestions about Pakistan celebrating.

On Friday, Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy got trolled on Twitter for suggesting that Nitish Kumar advertised in Pakistani daily Dawn (a tweet that he subsequently deleted: “Nitish advertises in PAKISTAN daily “DAWN” e-edition to woo voters in Bihar. Why Pak? Whom does he want to reach?”

Now the problem was that Rudy was sharing a picture of the online edition of DAWN and erroneously thought that Nitish Kumar paid to publish advertisements. What he was referring to was the space on the website reserved for online ads through Google.

Obviously, this didn’t escape the notice of the Twitterati who were quick to mock Rudy’s mistake. Incidentally, Rajiv Pratap Rudy is a Member of Parliament who’s also the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in Modi’s government which is a key ministry in Make in India so this ignorance (either from him or the whoever is handling the account), doesn't really fill us confidence about Digital India.

Just in case, Rajiv Pratap Rudy needs help according to Webopedia, Google Adsense is an

“… is an advertising placement service by Google. The program is designed for website publishers who want to display targeted text, video or image advertisements on websitepages and earn money when site visitors view or click the ads.

The advertisements are controlled and managed by Google and Web publishers simply need to create a free AdSense account and copy and paste provided code to display the ads. Revenue using AdSense is generated on a per-click or per-impression basis. It is free to become a verified website publisher in the Google AdSense program.”
