Lucknow, (IANS) BSP chief Mayawati on Friday accused the Haryana government and its Chief Minister M.L. Khattar of being insensitive to the attacks on Dalits.
She referred to the torching of a Dalit home in Faridabad in Haryana in which two children died as "shameful", and said the state government was trying to protect the killers.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister told the media that Khattar had failed to curb the feudal mindset in the state and to protect the Dalits and weaker sections of the society.
But she did not spare the Congress either, calling the BJP and the Congress as two sides of the same coin.
"When the Congress is in power at the centre, the BJP makes noise (over Dalits) and vice-versa. The fact is that both the parties have nothing to do with the welfare of Dalits," she said.
Whenever a Dalit tried to lead an honourable life, he or she was killed, she said.
