Mysuru lad tops SSLC exam

Bengaluru, (DHNS): Udupi district has topped this year's SSLC examination, the results of which were announced by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board on Monday. Dakshina Kannada district has slipped to the fourth position from second. Yashas of Sadvidya High School, Mysuru, topped the exam while Mohammed Kaif Harun Rashid Mulla of St Xavier School, Belagavi, stood second. Mohammed secured 624 out of a total of 625 marks and intends to seek photocopies of science paper where he scored 99.

 

Mohammed is confident of getting full marks. As many as 71.93% students have passed the exams. This year, too, girls outshone boys. As many as 78.01% of the girls passed the exam, while the pass percentage for boys was 66.56%. A total of 8.5 lakh candidates appeared in the exam.

Among the districts, Udupi got the highest pass percentage, 88.18%, while Yadgir saw the lowest pass percentage at 35.54%. Last year, the overall pass percentage stood at a 67.87%. In 2016 it was 75.11% and 2015 it was 81.82%. The Belagavi educational district showed drastic improvement by coming sixth, up from last year's 25th rank, while Chikkodi maintained the third rank for the second consecutive year. Belagavi recorded a pass percentage of 84.77%, while it was 71.2% last year.

Chikkodi district recorded 87.01% results, while it was 80.47% last year. Another district which showed a major improvement in rankings is Mysuru which came 11th, up 10 places from last year.
