Bhubaneswar,, IANS: At least nine persons were killed and 15 others injured when a mini-truck overturned in Odisha's Sundargarh district, police said on Sunday.
Police said the mini-truck was carrying kabaddi players and their supporters of Sendhpur village in Bonai block. The death toll could go up as several of the injured were in critical conditions, sources said.
The accident occurred near Suarapalli on Lahunipara-Baharaposi road on Saturday evening. Police said while three persons died on the spot, three others died on way to hospital. The injured were admitted to Ispat General Hospital.
Sources said the driver lost control over the vehicle following which it overturned and fell off a small bridge. Additional SP (Bonei) R.B. Panigrahi said police were inquiring into the incident.
