“Support from the admirers is the strength of the art”- Francis Fernandes Cassia

Mumbai, November 05: The 20th Annual celebration of Mangalorean Catholic Association ® Pune was held on Sunday evening at Nehru Memorial Auditorium of Pune Camp. The Assistant Director of Ishwani Centre Pune- Rev Fr. Tony Menezes and Parish priest of Holy Cross Church Rev. Fr. Ronald Fernandes were present as the chief guests.

During the occasion, the senior Konkani theatre artist and Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy award winner-Comedy king Francis Fernandesz Cassia, play director - Joy Paladka and Journalist Ronnes Bantwal were honored by Ronald Sequeira-the president of the Mangalorean Catholic Association. Francis Fernandes released “Equote”-the souvenir of the association and siad “there is no age limit for art. The support from the admirer keeps the artists alive. So, we have succeeded in entertaining you at this old age also. Let this association, live a hundred years”

In the same occasion, the founder leader of the association Aloysius Saldana (Luvi Urva), Community development organizer Precilla Brags, the founder executive committee member Sabina A D’souza and Irin Raskinha were honored.

Rev. Fr. Richard Mathais (SVD), Rev.Fr. Navin Rebello (SVD), Rev.Fr. Edvin Vaz, Linetta Rodrigues-the treasurer, Jyothi Montheiro, Patric M D’souza, Immaculate Fernandis, Herald Lobo, other office bearers and members were present.

Patric D’souza welcomed. The assistant editor of newsletter Judith Menezes explained the working and development of the association. Pravin Pinto compered the programme. Edna Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks.

On the eve of annual celebration, the 74th show of drama “Mhatharo Charbela” written and acted by Francis Fernandes Cassia was exhibited by Frank production group. Joy Paladka directed the drama. Betty Nhaz, Peter Pais Basruru, July Vaz, Gregory Sequeira Niddody, Flora D’souza Kalmady, Shanthi Barboza Boliye, Peter Kutinho, Rosy Sequeira paladka were the actors and they entertained the audience.
