Mumbai, Oct 26: “Commerce and Industries institutions have served Maharashtra in a unique way and the service of the CCCI institution is also noteworthy. Such institutions have played a main role turning the youth as successful entrepreneurs. Our nation has plenty of job opportunities, but our people failed to grab them. Our prime minister, in his foreign visits trying to make understand the foreigners about the services we offer. The institutions should come forward and encourage the youth, which will help our nation to become self-reliant. Christians are doing selfless service and it is a role model not only to the nation but to the world”, said Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao-the governor of Maharashtra.

Governor Vidyasagar was invited as the chief guest for the 13th annual general meeting, get together and annual award distribution of Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) held at the Hotel Kohinoor Continental Auditorium of Andheri on Saturday.

Henry Lobo-the executive president of the CCCI was the president of the ceremony and Rev Fr Elias Gonsalves-the Bishop of Amaravati Diocese was invited as the chief guest.

Governor Vidyasagar conferred the awards to the following achievers: Prakash Pierera (Social service award), Rev Fr Dr Francis Swamy (excellent educational achievement award), Thomas C Benjamin (Public service award), Janet Lawrence Dsouza (Public service award), Marjori Aranha Texeyira (women entrepreneur award) and Walter Dsouza Nandalike (young entrepreneur). Dr Richard Pierera introduced and honored the awardees.

Bishop Gonsalves spoke blissful words and said, “Meaningful life is more precious than a failed life. Such types of awards are a backing to the achievers. Conflicts lead to destruction and harmony brings success. A life filled with compassion is necessary.”

Henry Lobo thanked everyone and said, “I am grateful for your support and service you showed towards this institution. I will always work hard for this institution and offer my dedicated service at all the times”. Then he handed over the authority to the new executive president Antony Sequeira and wished him good luck. He thanked everyone who extended their cooperation during his tenure.

New executive president Antony Sequiera said, “My main aim is to bring my dreams into reality. I will make all efforts to bring this institution in the global level by instilling interest among the youth and creating new opportunities to the members.”

Vincent Mathias-the founder executive president, John Dsilva-convenor of the CCCI award committee, Albert W Dsouza-executive vice president, John Mathew-the director were present at the dais. The awardees wished good luck to CCCI.

Grace Pinto-managing director of Rayan group of international schools, Gordon Dsouza-the president of Catholic Sabha Mumbai, Lawrence Rony Dsouza-vice president and CCCI directors Lawrence Cuvello, John Mathev, Advocate Pius Vaz, Walter Buthello, Gregory Dsouza the conveners of various sub committees and other office bearers and members were present at this occasion.

The 13th annual general meeting was held in the beginning of the ceremony in the president ship of executive president Henry Lobo. The acting secretary of CCCI Felix Dsouza gave information about the annual activities. Philomena H Lobo and Prameela V Mathias offered bouquets to the guests. Kenneth Sequiera and Payal Mathia presented the programme. Agnello Rajesh Athaide proposed the vote of thanks.
