Mumbai, October 25: As a native of Mangalore, I feel proud to inaugurate this bank of ours at my constituency. The hundred years dedicated service of this bank is outstanding. As a Mayor, MLA and now a MP, this is an honor to me to inaugurate three branches of this bank. In the co-operation sector, the success is achieved only through give and take policy. When people try to keep fixed deposits, it means they are concentrating on the earnings. Means, one who save money will earn it. The co-operative banks are in execution according to the rules and regulations of the Reserve Bank of India. The co-operation of the government is essential for the co-operation sector. Then only people from the poor sectors will get all the facilities similar to middle class people”-said MP Gopal C Shetty-Borivali Constituency of Mumbai.

Gopal Shetty spoke these words inaugurating the 13th branch of Model Co-operative bank limited at Rock garden building of Kandarpad New-link Road at Dahisar (W).

The inaugural programme was lead by Albert W D’souza - the Executive president of Model Bank, Rev.Fr.Bharthol Baretto -the chief priest of Our Lady of Immaculate conception Church blessed and inaugurated the new branch.

Rev.Fr. Lancy D’silva-the Parish Priest of St.Louis church of Dahisar, Abhishek Ghosalkar-the local Mayor, John D’Silva-the founder president of the bank, Vincent Mathias-the former executive vice-president were present at the dais.

In his introductory speech Albert D’Souza said “RBI granted permission to open nine new branches of our bank and accordingly we will extend our service by opening the branches at the city and sub-urban areas. Compared to other banks, we are giving loans with less interest rate, and offer other banking facilities. This is your bank, and this will serve as a partner of your financial system”.

The leaders from the Christian community of coastal Karnataka started “The Mangalore Catholic Co-operative Credit Society Limited”, and now it is named as Model Co-operative bank limited. The directors of the bank-Paul Nazareth, Philip L S Pinto, Sanjay Shinde, Advocate Pius Vaz, Mariet D’Silva, Benedicta Rebello, Abraham Clement Lobo, Lawrence D’Souza, Thomas D Lobo, ex mayor of BMC Harishwar Patil, Builder Anoop Sachdev, Raphael Cardoza, Raphael Castelino, Victor D’Kunha, Rathnakar Shetty Mundkur other dignitaries, the higher officers of the bank, senior managers, chiefs of various branches, customers, shareholders, wellwishers were present and wished success.

The Branch manager Loella Noronha welcomed all. The executive vice-president William Sequiera, additional General manager Herald M Serao honored the guests giving bouquets. The Managing director and CEO -William L D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Beeta Carvallo introduced the guests and conducted the programme.
