LANGUAGE WILL DEVELOP WHEN IT BECOMES A LANGUAGE OF THE HOUSEHOLD: CHIEF MINISTER PARSEKAR

Goa (Panaji), Jan. 23:“Konkani is a major language of Goa and it needs to get importance in global level. Konkani language is the mother tongue of many states and its literature, culture, artsshould grow. A language will grow strongly if it becomes the language of the household” –said LaxmikanthParsekar – the Chief Minister of Goa.

The 3 days 30th All India Konkani Parishad was inaugurated by Chief Minister Parsekar by lighting the lamp on Friday at the open auditorium of Kala Academy at Late J. B. Moraes Nagar, Panaji, Goa. The programmed was arranged by Gomanthak Maratha Samaj Goa and Arts Academy of Kampala.

Dr.Chandrashekar S. Shenoy Mumbai presided over the Parishad. Justice Ramachandra M. S. Khandeparkar – the retired Justice of Supreme Court, Siddarth Kunkalkar – MLA of Panaji constituency released the 30th souvenir of the Parishad. On the occasion, the guests felicitated Udaya L. Bendre – the President of Konkani Sahitya Academy and others by offering Konkani Sahitya Academy award and congratulated them.

Dr.ChandrashekarShenoy in his presidential speech said that integration is possible only by the development of the language. To achieve that, all Konkani people of our country should strengthen their literature and culture.

Usha Rane – the Executive President of All India Konkani Parishad, Juje Lawrence –the Executive President, Shantharam S. V. Walavlekar –the President of Welcome committee, the Secretary SuphalaGoitonde and others were present on the dais.

Jnaneshwara Thary- the Treasurer, Jos Lawrence –the Working President of Welcome Committee, Bharat Nayak, DamodarGhanekar, Vivek Pisurlekar –the Presidents, Anju Sakardande, Gaurish Venekar – the conveners, Basti Vamana Shenoy –the President of World Konkani Centre, Prabhakar Prabhu Bantwala, Udaya L. Bendre –the President of World Konkani Sahitya Academy, John D’Silva –the President of Konkani Bhasha Mandal Mumbai, Leo Fernandez –the President of Maharashatra Konkan Association, Paul Moraes, GeethaKini, Wilson Kateel, Lawrence D’ Souza Kamany, SirilCastelino and others were present on the occasion.

Akshay Nayak recited the welcome song and prayer written by Prakash Dutt. Shantharam S. V. Walvekar – the President of the Welcome committee welcomed the gathering. Gokuldas Prabhu – the President of Konkani Parishad delivered introductory speech. Subhash Jnan and Akshatha Puranik Bhat compered the programme. Sunita Kanekar rendered the vote of thanks. Many Konkani associations performed cultural programmes.
