Karnataka Medical Education Minister Visits Gulf Medical University

Dr. Sharanprakash R Patil, Hon’ble Minister of State for Medical Education –Karnataka, India visited Gulf Medical University (GMU) in Ajman, UAE on Sunday, 13th December 2015. The Minister was received by the Founder President of the Board of Governors of GMU -Mr. ThumbayMoideen, along with the academic leadership of the university headed by GMUProvost, Prof. Gita Ashok Raj.

The minister was taken on a tour of the institution and appraised about the facilities and the infrastructure available, especially in the Center for Advanced Biomedical Research and Innovation (CABRI) and the Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare (CASH).

The minister was impressed with the facilities and rated GMU as one of the best universities he had ever visited. “As a medical professional myself, I am impressed with the advanced facilities that are available, and more importantly the teaching methodology has impressed me. The high quality of medical services offered by the network of Thumbay Hospitals and Clinics is also very impressive,” he remarked.

The Minister also expressed his admiration for the pioneering spirit of Mr. ThumbayMoideen. “I can see a lot of hard work put in by Mr. ThumbayMoideen in establishing such a world class institution in the UAE and I am proud of his achievements. I strongly encourage and invite him to establish such a campus and hospitals in Bengaluru or Mysuru. We would like to have more discussions on this matter,” he added.

Addressing the students, the minister reminded them that medicine being a noble profession, professionals must use it for the service of humanity rather than commercializing it. The Minister was honored with a special memento by the Founder President, to mark his visit to GMU.

Gulf Medical University
The Gulf Medical University, owned and operated by Thumbay Group headquartered in DIFC - Dubai, is presently the most sought-after private medical university in the UAE. It is the first private medical university in UAE catering to all nationalities admitting students of both genders, presently having students from over 73 nationalities, and faculty and staff from 22 nations.
