MOTHER MARY IS THE CREATOR OF MIRACLES: FR. HUBERT GOVIAS
Mumbai, Sept. 08: Maharashtra Konkan Association has celebrated 21st annual birthday celebration of Virgin Mary on Thursday night at Divine Child Nursery auditorium of Amboli at Andheri (W). The Parish Priest of St. Francis Xavier Church of Parksite – Rev. Fr. Hubert Govias offered prayers to Mother Mary and blessed the rice spikes and worshipped the nature mother. In the beginning of the pooja, children and the gathered devotees offered flowers to the decorated idol of Mother Mary and offered their prayers.
“Mother Mary is the creator of miracles and she fulfils the wishes of her devotees. She is the trusted god of Catholic Christians and her birthday is being celebrated as cultural celebration. We have been celebrating her birthday as a family fest which shows our unity”, said Fr. Hubert while performing thanks-giving pooja.
Br. Fredrigue Koreya sang the prayer. Vinni D’Souza recited the Bible. Metilda Rodrigues and Iryne Rodrigues offered prayers. Ida Montero, Hilda Fernandez and team sang songs for the pooja. Antony Butello extended co-operation for the pooja rituals.
The President of Mangalorian Catholic Welfare Association – Steny Saldanha, industrialists – Pramila Mathias, Clement Lobo, Herald Castelino and the President of the association – Benedicta B Rebello were present on the dais as guests. The Vice President – Walter D’Souza Kalmady, Hon. Secretary – Lancy D’Souza, Joint Secretary – Gregory Monis, Joint Treasurer – Preethesh Castelino and President of East Zone - Vincent Castelino present flower bouquets to guests and honoured them.
Benedicta Rebello, Director of Divine Child Nursery – Normal D’Souza, Konkani singer – Victor Consesso, teacher – Mary B Pinto, Stany Dais, John Rodrigues, donors – Lancy D’Silva and Mrs. Jessy D’Silva, Neel D’Souza, Sisters Lucy, Priya, Julia and many other dignitaries were present as special invitees of the programme.
Rocky i D’Cunha welcomed the gathering and presented the programme. Convenor Leo Fernandez Jerrymerry explained the speciality of the feast and thanked all. Many members played music and women’s team presented dance. On this occasion, the association provided food to orphanage children and the gathered people had traditional pure vegetarian food prepared from new rice. The celebration of annual feast ended with the supply of sugarcane.
