Mumbai, September 13: The Canara Welfare Association of Sacred Heart Church, Mahakali Caves Road, Andheri (E) celebrated the “Monthi fest-2015”-the birthday celebration of Mother Mary along with Corn fest in grand scale.

The Director of the Atmadarshan Rev.Fr.Henry D’souza conducted the Monthi fest by worshping the mother traditionally. He distributed the blessed corn and launched the Monthi fest which has an agricultural importance. After that, children and devotees offered the flowers to the idol of Mary along with the prayer songs and they paid their respect to mother Mary.

The Chief Priest of the Sacred Heart Church Rev.Fr.Lawrence Coreia offered the thanks giving mass and blessed the devotees. Rev.Fr.Jossy Fernandis delivered the sermon. Rev.Fr.Cyril D’souza, Fr.S.Chinnappa, Fr.Niron Vegues, Fr.Innocent Fernandis-assisted in the mass and distributed the blessed corn to the devotees.

After that, the office bearers of the Canara Wefare Association celebrated their annual rituals and Monthi fest at Sacred Heart Church auditorium. Dr.Lawrence Coreia inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Rev.Fr.Jossy Fernandis, Rev.Fr.Cyril D’souza, Fr.S.Chinnappa, Fr.Niron Vegues, Fr.Innocent Fernandes, sister Ranjana, Sister Fatima, President of the Association-Tony Francis Almeida, Vice President-Glen Rebello, Treasurer Payas Fernandis and the Chief organizer of the programme Smt.Julie D’Almeida were present at the dais.

Priests, sponsors of the programme and well wishers were honoured by giving bouquets. The childrens of the Gyana Ashram group performed variety of dances. Fr. Cyril D’souza blessed the food and Monthi fest was celebrated with pure vegetarian meal. The President Tony Francis Almeida welcomed all. Clement Lobo Nakre conducted the programme. The Secretary Lenny Fernanadis proposed the vote of thanks.
