Progressive writers should fight for the people: Hemacharya

Mumbai, Dec 15: “I stayed in foreign country for many years for the sake of job but never forgot my mother tongue. Presntly I’m running a English paper but has the same love for my mother tongue. We are Konkani writers. We the progressive writers should fight for our necessities. Should live for others” said Hemacharya (Stephen Mascarenhes Mangaluru)-the editor of Daijiworld English Weekly, senior writer.

‘Konkani Sahamin-2015’ was organized by Pragatisheel Konkni Baravpi institution at Gyan Ashram, Mahakali Caves Road, Andheri (E) for Konkani writers, artists, musicians and Konakani lovers.

The programme was held under the president ship of Andrew Mendonca-the founder editor of ‘Kanik’ a Konkani monthly. Rev Fr Cyril Dsouza Kelbett –the music director of Gyan Ashram lighted the lamp and launched ‘poinaridotcom’.

Fr. Cyril Dsouza said that he was away from the mother tongue but he has a special love for his mothertongue. He also sang the song of Melwyn Peris.

Senior writer Geo Agrar (Joe Dsilva) gave introductory speech and said that clean Konkani is our vision. Writers have the power to awaken the society. They can develop the society and mother tongue through mother tongue.

Melwyn Neri Nazreth gave information about ‘poinaridotcom’ website and introduced the organizer Valley Quadroz. Prasanna Niddodi, Lawrence Dsouza Kamani, Neri Nazret honored the guests by giving the bouquets. Senior poet Valley Quadroz welcomed the guests, conducted the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.

John Dsilva-Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra, Leo Fernandis Jerimeri-the founder president of Maharashtra Konkan Association, senior singers Lawrence Saldanha, Henry Dsouza Goregaon, John Crasta-the president of Konkani Welfare Association Mira Road, Secretary Arun Noronha, treasurer Lawrence Mathias, Hilary Dsilva Niddodi, Francis Olivera and other dignitaries were present.

Musical concert was held in the president ship of Vally Quadroz and V Dsilva, Reeta Albuqurque, Neri Nazret presented their poetry. Jerry Bondel, Lancy Dsouza and Delisha Dsouza sang Konkani songs. Artists of Mira Road exhibited a short play ‘Khann’ directed by Hilary Dsilva and written by Vally Quadroz.
