Parents’ support is essential for the development of mother tongue: Bishop Percival Fernandes
Mumbai, January 08: The “Konkan Taram Association”operating at St. Jude Church at Jarimari, Kurla celebrated silver jubilee on Sunday at St.Jude Church. Chief Guest of the programme, Bishop Percival J E Fernandes inaugurated the silver jubilee programmes by lighting the lamp and released the souvenir.
Parish priest of the St. Jude Church and director of Konkan Taram, Rev.Fr.Lancy Pinto, Fr. Gabriel Mariya, Fr Maxwell Furtado, the chief of the Jagruthi Kendra sister Bibiyana, Industrialist Albert W D’souza, Gabriel Mendonca, John Oswald Korderio, director and theatre artist Francis Fernandes Cassia, Film Producer Henry D’silva Surathkal, Walter D’souza Kalmady were present and remembered the 25 years of service of the institution and wished good luck.
“Konkani language attained the support from Konkan Taram. For the development of the mothertongue, support from parents’ is essential, this institution gave the same support to the development of Konkani language” said Bishop Percival Fernandes and wished good luck.
Fr.Lancy Pinto admired the service and support of “Konkani Taram”. Vice president Melony Kordero, John Vagues, Elias Pinto, Lio D’souza, Joseph D’souza and others were present.
Alita Pereira, Prezyl Fernandes performed the welcome dance. Flossy J Vegas, Rosy D’souza, Fascal Miranda, Marcelin D’souza, Emilia D’souza, Jessy D’souza, Eldrin D’souza, Triza D’souza and Joyson D’souza honored the guests with bouquets. Flora D’souza Kalmady and Clement Lobo compered the programme. John Mascarenhas proposed the vote of thanks.
As a part of entertainment programme, Ms Precilla, Ms. Maria and Ms Velencia and group performed the dance programme. Nefi Rude, Antony Thavro, Murel, Franki D’souza, Sunitha D’souza sang the songs from “Nashibhaacho Khel” Konkani film. The members of Konkani Taram exhibited the comedy Konkani drama “Limbe ani Mirsang” created and directed by John R Mascarenhas.
