THE ALUMNI’S GATHERING WILL RE-CREATE OLDER DAYS ONCE AGAIN

Mumbai, December 16: The second annual get-together of Kannada Premi Mandali of old students of Khalsa College, Matunga was held on Sunday at Nithyananda auditorium, Sion (E) under the guidance of Dr Sunitha M Shetty. “The alumni’s get-together will re-create the older memories and golden moments of student life. This is the greatness of mankind”- said Sunitha Shetty.

 

The programme was held under the leadership of oldstudents. The retired assistant librarian Harish G Poojary, Radhakrishna Rai, Vikranth Urwal, Jayakrishna Shetty, Rony Olivera, Dhananjaya Shetty, Shankar Suvarna, Sadananda Shetty, Moodushedde Vishvanatha Shetty, Padmanabha Shetty, Vasantha Poojary, Chandrahasa Shetty, K Sumithra, Sundar Raj Shetty, Sadashiva K Shetty and other chief members were present. The members were honored with bouquets.

The programme started with flute play by Vinaya Kumar. Shankar D shetty from Delhi delivered the introductory speech. The chief organizer N M Ramesh gave the overview of the last meeting. Vasantha Rai gave the information about income and expenditure. He announced that, Rs.45, 000/- that is the remaining portion of the collected money was given to health fund of Dinesh-the alumni.

Few years back, the old students of Kannada premi Mandali gave Rs.10,000/- to Mumbai Kannada Sangha as donation. Last year Padmanabha Shetty gave additional amount of Rs.15,000/- and now this Rs. 25,000 has been kept as charity fund. By using the interest gained from this fund, the Mumbai Kannada sangha organizing the talks in Kannada by various scholars. The members expressed their delight for the same.

Many senior students expressed their valuable views. The artists from art institution of sub-city performed dance programme. Saikumar-son of Nagesh Kumar-the alumni read out the self-composed English poetry. Ravindra Suvarna sang a song. Sadananda Bontra entertained the audience by singing yakshagana songs.
