Golden Jubilee Inauguration of Gurunarayana Old –Student Association

Mumbai, January 25: The inaugural function of golden Jubilee celebration of Gurunarayana old student association was held on Saturday at Billawara Bhawan, Gurunarayana Road,Santhacruz (E). The Golden Jubilee programme was inaugurated by Jaya C Suvarana- the executive president of Bharat Bank and president of Billawara Maha Mandala.

The programme was held under the presidentship of T R Shetty-the president of Gurunarayana old student association. Nithyananada D Kotian-the president of Billawara association Mumbai, Adarsh Shetty-the president of Hotel owners association, Mumbai, were present as the chief guests. Krishna Y Shetty-the executive president of Krishna palace hotel group, Uma Krishna Shetty- the director of Mathrubhoomi Co-operative credit society Ltd., Prabhakara T Bolar-the former president of Karnataka Sangha, Chandrashekara Palethady-the president of Kannadiga Journalist association of Maharashtra, Ashok M Kotian- the director of Bharat bank, Neelesh Poojary Palimaru-executive president of Yuva abhyudaya wing of Billawara association, Mumbai, Bannanje Ravindra Amin-executive president of school committee, Santhosh N Devadiga-executive president of youth wing were present on the dais as honorary guests.

“In 1991 when, I was the president of the Billawara association, we were not able to spend Rs.10,000 for education. But as per the teaching of Brahmashri Narayana Guru- everyone should progress and to achieve that they should be educated-by following this objective, now per year more than one crore rupee is being spent by the institution. Without having any discrepancy, of cast, religion or creed, this money is utilized for the purpose of education. Along with this we also run an educational institution at Padubidri-an under developed village. The government allotted this land for us for the reason that we run the night school” Jaya Suvarna expressed his views.

Nithyananda D Kotiana said, “The students from night school are more talented than regular school. These students have the eagerness to learn. Let the golden chariot of this institution smoothly move-ahead”

“ The culture of night school is unique. But we do not differentiate them as day and night school. Night school students don’t have the pressure of education but they have strong wish and motto of education. The students here are role-model to everyone” Adarsha Shetty expressed his views.

Uma shetty said” night school students are the real devotees of Goddess Saraswathi. We should not treat them as people deprived of education”

Prabhakara Bolar, Chandrashekara Palethady, Ashok Kotian and T R Shetty expressed their views.

Students sang the prayer, the executive president of golden jubilee celebration committee-Suresh S Suvarna welcomed and delivered introductory speech. Krishna Y Shetty released the appeal. Sanathkumar Jain introduced the guests. Head master Ramachandrayya C, vice president of old student association and secretary of golden jubilee committee Ravi A Bangera, treasurer of old student association Ramesh G Suvarna, treasurer of golden jubilee committee Krishna B Poojary, programme committee members R S Kotian, M R Hoskote, Jayanth N Shetty, Vijaya N Shetty, Dr Vani N Ucchilkar, Malathi T Shetty, B Koosappa, Raghu Poojary, Ananad K Poojary, Diwakar N Shetty, Raviraj S Shetty honored the guests by offering bouquets. The secretary of the old student association Vasantha N suvarna briefly explained the activities of the association and conducted the programme. Shivarama A Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
As a part of cultural programme, students and old students performed the variety of entertainment programmes. Ashoka Kodyadka and group performed the comedy skit and Yakshamitra group of Mumbai performed the yakshaganana prasanga –“Lava-Kusha”.
