37th Annual day of Sulabha Special School was celebrated on 14th February 2016 with pomp, passion and fervor. The apt delight for the occasion, was Chief Guest Actor Swapnil Joshi known as Romantic hero in Marathi films, whose last film “Mitwa” releasing last year on 13thg Feb 2015, was a great hit. This year too his yet another Marathi film, produced by Mr Sanjay Leela Bansali, Directed by Ms Swapna Waghmare Joshi will release.





Sulabha School was started in Jan 1979 with 5 students at present 104 on it's roll, though having a sanction of 85 students and we have 19 additional students.. the expenses for extra teachers are borne by the trust. The Sulabha Trust for special Education & Research has completed 37 yrs of establishment and has its own Building at Tilak nagar Chembur. It offers services from Occupational therapy, Speech therapy, Special Education, Prevocational Training, Training in Special Olympics, to Vocational training Centre for

young adults with mental retardation all under one roof. All the teachers are trained and registered with rehabilitation council of India.

This is only school in Northeast suburb of Mumbai which is aided in Mumbai Suburban District. Students participate in many events in sports, dance competition, drawing, embroidery organized in city and win prizes.

Every year the school celebrates its Annual Day by organizing cultural programme and giving away prizes to students. This year, Swwapnil as a chief guest added color to the event. He spoke extremely well. He mentioned that being a Valentine Day, he experienced so much love amongst people assembled here & amongst these differently abled students and special teachers, has learnt something different. & Special.

He mentioned about his father, when he asked him "that we here so much of ill/ evil incidents when we read the paper or watch TV, how come the world doesn't loose it's balance".His father replied "there are people who are doing good (which he experienced coming for this programme) that is how the world maintains the balance.

President, Mrs Jayashree Jhambekar, and Hon. Secretary Dr Manjula Gada, stated that, “The students performed on his song from Mitva , satyam shivam, sundera ,on roller skates & viewers were clapping and cheering them.

The audience was awestruck and when invited to join, he danced with students. They were very happy . The children thanked Actor Swwapnil Joshi gracing the event and making their day special and wishing he too had a great time.

Mrs Anuradha Jatar, Headmistress and staff stated that even normal children dance practice on skates is difficult, but these children have done a wonderful performance.
