Essay Writing competition on ‘ New Year- New Energy’

Essay writing competition for children was organized in *VIMALA GOENKA ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL, KOLHAPUR *here as part of a nation-wide campaign to generate awareness about importance of energy and to dispel the misconceptions related to nuclear energy.

The topic of the Essay writing competition was “*New Year- New Energy”* and it was organized on behalf of Nuclear Power Corporation of India, a Government of India undertaking.


In all, around 145 students participated in the competition. The students’work was judged by eminent personalities.

The names of the winning students are:

Winner I- PRANJAL P. SHAPURKAR - VIII

Winner II- HARSHWARDHAN S. BHOSALE - VII


The school principal Mrs. Sayli Joshi said on the occasion that children’s expressions are an indication of their creativity. The children had portrayed the importance of energy in a very creative manner and had also
showed how the production of electricity from nuclear energy did not cause much harm to the environment. She also gave away prizes to the winning children.


On this occasion, the judges also appreciated the work of the participating children and said this would increase awareness about science and energy.

On this occasion, informative material that aims at creating awareness about nuclear energy was distributed among the winning children, teachers and principal of the school.


Many such programmes are being organized in many states in India with an objective of creating awareness about clean energy and also removing misinformation about nuclear energy among the people.
