Governor witnesses paintings on the life and vision of Shivaji Maharaj

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao on Tuesday visited the Vazifdar Gallery at Colaba and witnessed the collection of oil paintings on the life and vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Maharashtra Bhushan Babasaheb Purandare who was especially present on the occasion explained the history of various incidents in the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji to the Governor.

The paintings show Shivaji Maharaj’s vision of development of forts, ports, ship building yards, finance, trade and commerce.

The painting series on Shivaji Maharaj was initiated by the Director of Vazifdar Group Deepak Gore under the guidance of Babasaheb Purandare and with support from the Vazifdar family. Artists Shrikant Chowgule and Gautam Chowgule have drawn the paintings. Phiroze Vazifdar, son of late Jehangir Vazifdar was present on the occasion.
