Mumbai: The number of accidents, molestation and mishandling cases involving school children during their commute is on the rise. To address this situation iCare Life as a part of its focus of training and up skilling informal service providers announced a well researched training program to train school bus drivers. There are about 50,000 buses which ply for schools either on behalf of the School or the Contractors. In many countries there is a specialized training required to qualify as a School Bus driver, but in India, the necessity to specialized training has not yet become mandatory.

Speaking on this occasion Rajesh Ghatge CEO & MD of iCare Life said, “Last year when we launched our training and certification programs for passenger car drivers – we were encouraged by the Mumbai Traffic Police to create a comprehensive program for School Bus Drivers. We are happy by the response that we have got from the school community and the drivers to the specialized program that we launched for school bus drivers, a few months back. The first 50 school bus drivers who have undergone this program and cleared the stringent assessment are being felicitated today. We hope that more and more schools embrace this initiative and invest in ensuring that their school bus drivers are trained and certified. With this simple intervention, there would be a positive impact on creating responsible, safe and smart school bus drivers’

iCare Life presents a unique way of training and certifying drivers through a tab based technology and clinical assessment on a specially designed Simulators. The program covers compliances, pre trip inspection, self-preparation, traffic rules and regulations, defensive driving, driving under difficult conditions, response to emergences, first aid and the POSCO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act)
Renowned schools namely G D Somani, B D Somani, EcoleMondiale and Rizvi Springfield who understood the importance of child safety and the relevance of this training program have already conducted this program, in their Schools and got their drivers trained and certified.

To encourage more Schools to come forward and give Road Safety and Safety for Children a boost, our present Joint CP, Mumbai Traffic, Mr Milind Barhambe has decided to honor the Schools and felicitate the Drivers in a convocation ceremony being held at the venue mentioned below to drive home the importance of this kind of training and appeal to all Schools to ensure that every Bus Driver in the city gets trained.
