Mumbai, (The Hindu): The most part of Sunday was spent by the officials of the forensic medicine department at Dubai’s Rashid Hospital carrying out a lengthy autopsy and the embalming process that only made the wait for family and friends more painful.

By afternoon industrialist Anil Ambani reached out to the Kapoor family by sending his 13-seater private Embraer jet to Dubai to bring back the actor’s family members and the body. The aircraft left Mumbai around 1.35 p.m.

Officials of Reliance Transport and Travels Private Ltd. informed that the plane had landed in Dubai and crew were awaiting information from the authorities.

Officials said that a tentative flight plan, along with international overflying rights, had been submitted to the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority online to ensure that Sridevi’s body is flown back at local Dubai time of 7 p.m., but that had since been delayed.

“We should be able to take-off within an hour of the body reaching the airport,” an official informed.

India’s ambassador in the United Arab Emirates, Navdeep Suri, in an emailed reply to a question from The Hindu on the delay in the release of Sridevi Kapoor's body, said, “Post mortem is standard practice in all such cases. Can take a bit of time. Working to expedite but it is in the hands of Dubai authorities. Our team is on standby to assist once local authorities complete their processes.”

The Indian consulate in Dubai late on Sunday evening tweeted to say, “ Consulate is in constant touch with high authorities of Dubai police to expedite formalities so that the mortal remains can depart for India ASAP.”

A message from the family said that public veneration of Sridevi’s mortal remains will be done at Bhagya bungalow, earlier known as Vaswani Villa at Seven Bungalows between 9 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. before being taken for cremation at 12 noon to the Pawan Hans crematorium in Juhu.
