Amit Shah’s programmes in city postponed

Mangaluru, (DHNS): BJP national president Amit Shah’s scheduled programmes in the city on Wednesday has been postponed indefinitely. Mr. Shah was to address an “intellectual meet” and hold a preliminary meeting with State-level leaders on organising the Parivarthana rally in Bengaluru on November 2.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Sanjeeva Matandoor, president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the party, said that all the programmes of Mr. Shah have been postponed due to “unavoidable reasons”.

He said that Mr. Shah arrived at the Mangaluru International Airport at 1.15 a.m. on Tuesday and proceeded to Kerala to participate in the Janaraksha Yatra at Payyanur. He would return to Delhi via Mangaluru International Airport late on Tuesday.

He said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would participate in the yatra in Kerala on Wednesday. Mr. Adityanath would arrive in Mangaluru late on Tuesday and travel to Kerala. He would return via Mangaluru late on Wednesday.

Mr. Matandoor said that the BJP would take out a 22-km padayatra from Puttur to Padumale, said to be the birthplace of Koti and Chennaya, cultural heroes revered in Tulu Nadu, on October 10 to condemn the desecration of the statue of Deyi Baidyeti, their mother, at Padumale in Dakshina Kannada recently.

The BJP has postponed this padayatra which was earlier scheduled to be held on October 2.
