BJP finalises 16 names for MLC polls

Bengaluru, DHNS: The State BJP on Sunday finalised the names of 16 candidates for elections to the Legislative Council from graduates, teachers and local authorities constituencies.

The list includes Pradeep Shettar, brother of former chief minister Jagadesh Shettar, who has been given a ticket to contest from Dharwad Local authorities constituency.

Former minister Murugesh Nirani's brother Hanumantha Nirani will be contesting from northwest Graduates constituency. Sitting MLC Arun Shahpur will contest from northwest Teachers’ Constituency.

M Nagaraj and Y V Ravishankar will contest from teachers’(west) and graduates’(south) constituency respectively. The candidates for local authorities constituencies are: S Raghu (Mysuru); M P Kushalappa (Kodagu); Kota Srinivas Poojary (Dakshina Kannada); M K Praneesh (Chikkamangaluru); R K Siddaramanna (Shivamogga); Ganapathi D Ulvekar (Uttara Kannada); Mahantesh Kavatigimath (Belagavi); G S Nyamagouda (Vijayapura); B G Patil (Kalaburagi); S V Chandrashekar (Raichur) and K S Naveen (Chitradurga).
