Bengaluru, DHNS: The state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa on Sunday said his party will intensify its protest with regard to the controversial death of police officer M K Ganapathi and take the issue to its logical conclusion.

“BJP MPs will raise the issue in the Parliament. The Union government has been apprised of the matter. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has already obtained a report in this regard from the state government.W e will also seek the intervention of Governor Vajubhai Vala. We will ensure that the case is handed over to the CBI for investigation,” the former chief minister said addressing BJP workers at “Chaitanya Samavesha” rally at Byatarayanapura in Bengaluru.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should have removed Bengaluru Development Minister K J George from the Cabinet and provided justice to the family of the deceased officer. Instead, Siddaramaiah has been blaming the family for Ganapathi’s death in order to shield his Cabinet colleague. The Opposition parties in the state legislature will resume their day-and-night dharna on Monday, demanding George’s removal from the ministry and a CBI probe into Ganapathi’s suicide, he added.

Honest police officers are ending their lives. Law and order has collapsed in the state. Senior citizens are not safe in Bengaluru. Cases of women going missing are on the rise. The government has completely failed to provide security to people. Besides, corruption has become rampant and the state treasury is being looted, he noted.

Yeddyurappa also accused top Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of turning a blind eye to the issues of Karnataka. “I want to ask Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi why they are not visiting Karnataka despite the chaos in the state. Whereas you go to other states for small and petty reasons,” he stated.

Yeddyurappa and Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation D V Sadananda Gowda criticised Siddaramaiah for skipping Inter-State Council meeting held in Delhi on Saturday. It would have been an embarrassment for the Chief Minister to face his counterparts from other states in the wake of the controversy pertaining to Ganapathi’s death. So he skipped the meeting, Gowda said.

Reacting to Siddaramaiah’s statement that both the Houses of legislature will be adjourned sine die if the Opposition continues its dharna, Yeddyurappa told reporters that the government does not have the guts to face the Opposition parties and discuss important issues.

Session may be curtailed, says CM

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said the ongoing legislature session may have to be inevitably cut short if the Opposition parties do not cooperate with the government, reports DHNS from?Mysuru.

It has been decided to hold the session till July 30. But the Opposition parties are continuing with their dharna and not allowing the House to function despite a request by the Speaker. What can the government do if this is the attitude of the Opposition parties, the chief minister told reporters here. The government is ready to hold the session till July 30 and discuss problems faced by the State. The BJP and JD(S)?should cooperate, he added.

Siddaramaiah said there is no need for a CBI?probe into DySP M?K?Ganapathi’s suicide as a judicial enquiry has already been ordered. The Government has asked the Justice K N Keshavanarayana Commission to submit its report in six months. The Opposition is trying to politicise the issue and staging protests only to gain political mileage.

Siddaramaiah said he will not interfere in the complaint lodged by Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C?Shikha against former Zilla Panchayat president K?Marigowda. He said the Assembly has decided to seek Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention in solving the dispute over sharing the Mahadayi waters.
