Bengaluru, (DHNS): With a view to help students playing sports and take excessive commutes to school, Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has asked its affiliate institutions to provide
them Rs 1 lakh insurance cover.

The value of the insurance policy should be Rs 1 lakh per student and it should cover health,
accident and travel.

“The students in Council affiliated schools participate in numerous extra-curricular and sports activities, besides the normal academic calendar, which involves practice, plenty of movement and much travel time to school and back home,” read a circular from the board.

“This leaves them vulnerable and prone to likely mishaps, accidents or any other unforeseen
circumstances,” it said.

The insurance is mandatory for students taking part in the games organised by the board.

The schools are currently taking part in National Sports and Games at the Zonal, Regional and National level. Individuals and teams would then be chosen to represent the Council at the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Games for 2018-19.

“It is recommended that all Heads of Council affiliated schools should provide an insurance cover for all the students of their respective schools,” the Council said in the circular. “It will be mandatory for the students participating and representing the Council at the SGFI Games 2018-19.

It is one of the pre-conditions of the School Games Federation of India that the students participating in the games must be insured. This is checked and verified at every venue where the games are held,” it further said.
