Mysuru, (DHNS): Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said that he has never indulged in caste politics and misused the opportunity given by the people.

Addressing the leaders of the Vokkaliga community at a conference here, Siddaramaiah said that he has faced several ups and downs in his 40-year political career.

"I have never played caste politics and asked people to vote on caste or community basis. My political career is like an open book. I have never disrespected the people, who wished me good," he said. Defending himself, the chief minister said a few political leaders have been leveling allegations that Siddaramaiah is casteist.

"I have not indulged caste politics in my life and the allegations are politically motivated," he said.

Denying the rumours that he will not contest from Chamundeshwari constituency, Siddaramaiah told the gathering not to believe it. "I will contest from the Chamundeshwari Assembly segment in the upcoming elections. Though pressure is being exerted on me to contest from north Karnataka, I have decided to contest from here," Siddaramaiah said.

Dr Yathindra, son of Siddaramaiah, Congress leaders Sathyanarayana, Krishnamadegowda and others were present.
