Bengaluru, DHNS: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday held a meeting with senior police officers and discussed the security arrangements for Tipu Jayanti, organised by the state government on November 10.
Home Minister G Parameshwara, Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) Om Prakash and senior IPS officers attended the meeting, which discussed measures to ensure law and order during Tipu Jayanti. After the meeting, Parameshwara told reporters that it has come to the government’s notice that protests will be organised by various political parties and organisations on November 8 against Tipu Jayanti.
“We have asked the police officers to ensure law and order across the state. The chief minister told the police officers that political parties and some people are trying to politicise the issue and create disharmony in society. Anyone trying to create trouble should be dealt with sternly in accordance with law,” he stated.
Special forces will be deployed across the state and additional Central forces will be arriving. “We do not want any untoward incident to take place. Last year, there was law and order problem in Madikeri during Tipu Jayanti. The officers were directed to identify such sensitive areas and keep a tight vigil,” the minister said.
“Police officers should remain in their headquarters and keep a tab on the situation in their respective areas. They should conduct peace meetings with people and organisations. The government is yet to decide on granting permission for taking out any processions on November 10,” added Parameshwara. Senior police officers briefed Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara on the security arrangements made.
