Bengaluru, (DHNS): The state Congress on Tuesday hit back at BJP president Amit Shah for describing the state government as “the most corrupt”, by seeking to know whether the state BJP leaders who took bribe through cheque were corrupt or not.

Speaking to reporters after taking part in Independence Day celebrations at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office here, state Congress president G Parameshwara accused Shah of turning a blind eye to corrupt leaders within the BJP. “Many BJP leaders are still facing charges of illegal mining. People are aware of how some leaders were caught taking bribe through cheque. Shah should therefore explain us his definition of being corrupt,” he added.

Referring to the recent I-T raids on Energy Minister D K Shivakumar, Parameshwara said the party will not comment on the issue. Action will be taken if a person is proved guilty. But, one should not indulge in politics over the raids. The Congress leaders are being targeted in order to defame the state government, he charged.

The Congress leader said Shah’s tactics might have worked in Uttar Pradesh and other states. But, Karnataka is a different ball game. Shah cannot be a ‘Chanakya’ in Karnataka, he added.
